Cost for Inspection, Certification Report & Decal will be $40.00
The next Inspection/Decal will be valid until December 31, 2010
Vehicles will be checked out to make sure they meet current Western Canada regulations.
Some requirements for certification are higher than regulations.
Vehicles will receive a window decal and a certification report on passing the inspection.
Inspection takes approximately one hour to complete.
Requirements for the Western Canada Pilot/Escort Vehicles Certification:
NOTE: At the beginning of April 2006 the four western provinces agreed to fully standardize pilot vehicle signs, lighting and equipment required. There are a few wording changes but the vehicles will be as below:
Required Equipment:
Two Way Radio
Hard Hat
Stop/Slow Paddle - min 12 x 12 inches
Fluorescent Vest one per crew member
Traffic Cones 3 min
Flags on staff -at least - 16 x 16 inches - 3 min
Flashlight with Nose Cone
Extra dimensional signs - 2
Hazard Warning Kit
First Aid Kit
Fire Extinguisher - 2lb min
switches to control pilot lighting
Sign Requirements:
two(2) outboard flashing lights - on top to outside edge of sign; 7 inches in diameter
two(2) inboard rotating/strobe lights - on top between outboard flashing lights
sign interior to be lighted evenly to be visible for a minimum of 200 meters
red/white "D" sign; yellow/black "Oversize Load" or "Wide Load"
upright position above cab when in use; secure
sign flat, removed or covered when not in use; secure
box size 180 cm long X 35 cm high x 10 cm minimum depth
Additional Requirements:
copy vehicle registration
copy proof of commercial insurance
name & phone number of business or registered owner 8 x 12 inches min
commercial license plate from home jurisdiction
spare tire, jack, wheel wrench
head lights, brake lights, mirrors, windshield, etc in good order
Recommended:
steel toe boots/shoes for some job sites
safety glasses for some job sites
flares
flag on pole required for some job sites (bicycle type most common)
back-up beeper required for some job sites
A Vehicle Certification/Regulation Information Book is being offered at this time.
It covers the basics of the Vehicle Certification. It also covers some of the general and specific regulations of the industry regarding pilot vehicles in relation to oversize.
Two separate books are available. One is strictly Saskatchewan and the other is for Western Canada.
